How it works

Fuel from light.

QuantaWatt engineers how light's energy moves — capturing sunlight and guiding it, the way nature does, into clean, storable fuel.

01 · Capture

Capture

Densely packed, broad-spectrum materials absorb sunlight across the visible range — the more of the spectrum captured, the more energy available.

02 · Guide

Guide

Captured energy is routed to the conversion site with minimal loss — the step where coherence does its work, keeping energy on the productive path.

03 · Convert

Convert

At the reaction center, that energy drives a charge apart — turning light into an electrical potential ready to do chemistry.

04 · Fuel

Fuel

Catalysis completes the loop, combining that charge with water and CO₂ to form clean, storable fuel — hydrogen or carbon-based.

The cell

One cell. Sunlight to fuel.

All four steps live in a single unit — an artificial-leaf cell that layers light capture, energy transfer, and catalysis. Designed to tile from one cell into a full module, so capacity scales by area.

Why direct

Skip the wire. Make the molecule.

Most clean fuel today takes two machines: electricity from a solar panel, then a separate electrolyzer. A direct light-to-fuel cell aims to do it in one — fewer conversions, made close to where it's used.
